“The other students had no idea how stressful school was for me. I would throw full blown tantrums/meltdowns at home even as a preteen each morning before being forced to go to school. I’d get sick or have a full blown panic attack, which would make me miss school. Then when I did get back to school, I’d have all the catch up homework and learning to do on top of the regular stuff being assigned; which just made me more sick and stressed resulting in me missing even more school.
You see, it wasn’t that I was behind on the fundamentals, but that the assignments needed to be completed and handed in for me to get a passing grade. So, the more school I missed, the more stressed I got, the more sick I got, the more school I missed, etc. It was a never ending cycle each and every school year.
So you see, I actually do know what you (or your child) is dealing with.
I have personal experience living with a chronic illness, mental health issues, and a learning disability. And because of that, I have developed my own ways of dealing with how to learn class content and how to enjoy learning…
I have lived in the USA, Canada, and the UK, so I have ample experience learning and teaching in all of these countries.
